On May 13, 2025, a Federal Judge in California approved a $19.7 Million settlement of a class action brought by Attorneys Zolna and Swetland alleging that tens of thousands of small businesses were secretly recorded during telemarketing calls without consent in violation of the California Invasion of Privacy Act (“CIPA”).
This represents the second largest settlement by total dollar amount under CIPA and the largest on a per class member recovery, with many class members recovering thousands of dollars each. The defendants included an independent sales organization, a major credit card processors, and a national bank.
