    Biography
Benjamin R. Swetland has been named class counsel in numerous class actions in state and federal courts across the country. His pathbreaking legal theories have led to historic results in civil rights, privacy, and consumer rights disputes. He has obtained hundreds of millions of dollars for his clients from large banks, Fortune 500 companies, and government agencies.
Benjamin has served as class counsel in the three highest results ever obtained under the California Invasion of Privacy Act, securing settlements as high as $78 million. He has also been named class counsel in civil rights class actions against the City of Chicago. Those cases directly caused serious changes in the law that have made Chicago a more just and affordable place to live.
Benjamin also represents companies and individuals in high-stakes, “bet the company” commercial litigation as well as workers who have been discriminated against by their employer or their union, and anyone else who hasn’t gotten a fair shake.
Benjamin received his J.D., cum laude from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and his B.A. with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He previously worked as a Partner at Myron M. Cherry & Associates, LLC.
